Passport Tracking

Passport applications go through two stages, the first is the checking stage this is where the application form and supporting documents are checked and verified to ensure that no mistakes have been made. If a mistake is found the HM Passport Office will contact you via post to confirm the details or request any further documents before the application can be processed.

Track Passport

In order track passport application progress you will need to have the Barcode Reference Number this number was present in the top left hand corner of the passport application form at the time of sending your application.

It may also be found on:

• Any correspondence that you have received from hm passport office since sending your application.
• On emails or declaration printouts from starting your passport application online.

Application Timescales

Please note that passport applications can on average take 4-5 weeks to process via post (during busy periods and due to the recent backlog July-Aug this could add a further 1-2 weeks to all postal application times).
